The war medal roll for the Egyptian campaign of 1882 is annotated to show those men actually present at Tel-el-Kebir, and thereby also entitled to the Tel-el-Kebir clasp. In addition, there follows an almost duplicate roll of men entitled to the Bronze Star granted by the Khedive of Egypt in recognition of the campaign. The 1st battalion, The Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment) embarked for Egypt in 1882, took part in this campaign, and again in the Nile campaign of 1884 to 1885. The Metropolitan Police Register of Joiners (MEPO 4/335) lists policemen joining the force 1 July 1878 to 31 December 1891 (warrant numbers 62845 to 77318). The register is alphabetical, in so far as the recruits are listed chronologically grouped under first letter of surname (I and J, and U and V being treated as single initials). It gives Date of Appointment, Name, Number of Warrant, Cause of Removal from Force (resigned, dismissed, promoted or died), and Date of Removal. NOLLER. Cost: £8.00. | Sample scan, click to enlarge
| Outstanding soldiers of the Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment)
(1881-1901)
Each year the best soldiers of the regiment were chosen for long service and good conduct medals. This register gives rank, name, regimental number, and date of recommendation. (The sample scan is from the East Surrey regiment). The register is essentially a register of recommendations, annotated with details of the issue of the medals. Where no gratuity accompanied the medal, the entry is marked 'W. G.' (without gratuity); where, for one reason or another, the medal was not issued, the entry is marked 'N. S.' (not sanctioned) and struck through. The regiment was based on the 50th Regimental District - Maidstone. The 1st battalion embarked for Egypt in 1882, adding "Egypt, 1882" and "Nile, 1884-5" to the regimental honours; and moved on to India, where it was established at Meerut by 1895. The 2nd battalion returned from Jamaica to Irelandin 1882, and by 1885 was stationed at the Curragh. The battalion moved to England in that year, and back to Ireland in 1892, and in 1895 was at Enniskillen. In 1898 the troops were moved back to England and then off to Egypt (1899) and South Africa (1900), gaining the honour "South Africa, 1900-02".NOLLER. Cost: £8.00. | Sample scan, click to enlarge

The Calendar of the Trinity College of Music, London, for the year 1929 includes lists of licentiates and associates including these musicians. Surnames and initials are given; but women are distinguished by having their (first) christian name stated. The college provided instruction to nearly 1000 students a year, with examinations of 66,000 candidates a year at 700 local centres throughout the world. NOLLER. Kelly's Directory of Blackheath, Lee, Greenwich, Eltham &c. includes this directory of private residents, listed alphabetically by surname and christian name, with address, covering an area extending from the river Thames on the north to Mottingham and Grove Park on the south, and from Eltham on the east to Deptford Creek and Hither Green on the west. The London telephone directory lists subscribers alphabetically by surname and then by christian name or initials, with their postal address and telephone number. This is the L to Z directory issued in May 1939, but also contains some names from earlier in the alphabet, for instance in the separate section for midwives. The London telephone districts comprised not only the city centre, but also the very extensive suburbs in the Home Counties (Essex, Kent, Surrey and Middlesex).NOLLER. The Institution of Structural Engineers was founded in 1908 and incorporated by royal charter in 1934. The institution had nine branches in Britain and Northern Ireland, and one in South Africa. The 1953 year book includes this list of members corrected to 1 August 1953, giving year of election to the various grades, surname (in bold), christian name, honours, address, and telephone number. 'Graduates shall be students of structural engineering who have attained the age of not less than 21 years and have passed a qualifying examination.'NOLLER.
