The provincial sections of the Universal British Directory include lists of gentry and traders from each town and the surrounding countryside, with names of local surgeons, lawyers, postmasters, carriers, &c. (the sample scan here is from the section for Nottingham). The directory started publication in 1791, but was not completed for some years, and the provincial lists, sent in by local agents, can date back as early as 1790 and as late as 1797.

The 1851 census return for St Mary Newington, Surrey, registration district: St Peter Walworth sub-district: enumeration district 7: described as: "All that Part of the Parish of St. Mary Newington, which Comprises Grosvenor Park (North & South) Includings Huts on Common, South Terrace, South side of Grosvenor St., and West side of Walworth Road to Parish boundary. Boundary Lane & Bolingbroke Row on the East side of Walworth Road to the Turnpike". HO 107/1567. This area lay in the ecclesiastical district of St Peter Walworth, and in the borough of Lambeth.
