Ludlow Guild: Tenants of Sock Rents (1552)
The Fraternity or Guild of Palmers, founded in Ludlow, Shropshire, possessed extensive property in Ludlow itself and nearby. This survey, taken in the 6th year of king Edward VI, surviving in the records of the Court of Augmentations, lists the tenants of property in Ludlow and its liberties; those of the burgages in Ludlow; of 'divers tenements or burgages, greatly in ruins' with a nominal value of £2 11s 8d per annum, but 'totally in decay', worth 3s 4d for the soil; the sock rents; and various tenements in Ludlow and elsewhere in Shropshire; in Herefordshire; and in Worcestershire.

Militia in Crewkerne hundred, Somerset (1569)
A muster of the ablemen, gunners, light horsemen, pikemen, archers and billmen available from this hundred, compiled by sir Hugh Paulet, sir Maurice Barkeley, sir Ralph Hopton and John Horner in answer to a royal commission of the 11th year of queen Elizabeth. The returns are arranged by tithing. The hundred consisted of the parishes of (the market town of) Crewkerne, Hinton St George, Marriott, Misterton, Seaborough and Wayford. These people signed various rolls at Hertford, mainly concerning allegiance. The letters are the key to the rolls involved: a. Oaths of allegiance, supremacy and abjuration under an Act of 6 Anne: 21 August 1714 to 21 April 1718; d. Oath for naturalizing Foreign Protestants under Act of 7 Anne: 10 May to 15 August 1719; e. Oath of allegiance under Act of 1 Anne: I. 13 July 1702 to 19 July 1714; II. 13 July 1702 to 19 February 1709; III. 13 July 1702 to 8 October 1708; f. Declaration against Transubstantiation, under Act of 1 William & Mary: I. 13 July 1702 to 9 January 1710; II. 12 July 1714 to 21 April 1718; III. 25 April 1715; IV. 10 July 1727 to 17 April 1732.

Hertfordshire Communicants (1761-1795)
Highly condensed abstracts of Hertfordshire Sessions Books and Minute Books were prepared by William le Hardy, and published for the County Council in 1935. Appendix V is a list of Sacrament Certificates: under the Test Act of 1673, holders of public offices were required to produce a certificate that they had taken communion in a parish church. For each such communicant the list gives full name (surname first); date of taking communion; name of the church; name of the minister; name of the churchwarden(s); and names of two witnesses.

The 1851 census return for St Mary Newington, Surrey, registration district: St Peter Walworth sub-district: enumeration district 7: described as: "All that Part of the Parish of St. Mary Newington, which Comprises Grosvenor Park (North & South) Includings Huts on Common, South Terrace, South side of Grosvenor St., and West side of Walworth Road to Parish boundary. Boundary Lane & Bolingbroke Row on the East side of Walworth Road to the Turnpike". HO 107/1567. This area lay in the ecclesiastical district of St Peter Walworth, and in the borough of Lambeth. Each year the best soldiers were chosen for long service and good conduct medals. This register gives rank, name, regimental number, and date of recommendation. (The sample scan is from the 34th foot). The register is essentially a register of recommendations, but from 1877-8 onwards there are also details of the issue of the medals.

Naturalizations (1920)
The Home Office issued monthly lists of aliens to whom Certificates of Naturalization or Readmission to British Nationality had been granted by the Secretary of State and whose oaths of allegiance had been registered in the Home Office. These notices, from January to December 1920, refer to naturalizations from December 1919 to November 1920. The lists give full name, surname first; country of origin; date of taking the oath of allegiance; place of residence; and occupation. A dagger indicates re-admission to British nationality.

London Telephone Subscribers (1939)
The London telephone directory lists subscribers alphabetically by surname and then by christian name or initials, with their postal address and telephone number. This is the L to Z directory issued in May 1939, but also contains some names from earlier in the alphabet, for instance in the separate section for midwives. The London telephone districts comprised not only the city centre, but also the very extensive suburbs in the Home Counties (Essex, Kent, Surrey and Middlesex).
