British Casualties at New Orleans: Sailors
(1814-1815) The unsuccessful attempt to gain possession of the enemy's lines near New Orleans led to nearly 2000 casualties among the British forces, 23 December 1814 to 26 January 1815. The report of the losses gives the army officers' names, not those of the rank and file: but there are separate returns of naval losses during the capture of three American gun-vessels, listing all the sailors killed and wounded.HEALEY. Subscribers to the Wesleyan Methodist preachers' schools
(1814-1815) Children of Wesleyan Methodist preachers could be educated by the church at their schools at Kingswood and Woodhouse Grove. These schools were supported by subscriptions and donations raised in local congregations throughout England and Wales, and in some years the individuals making larger donations are listed in the annual minutes, grouped together by congregation.HEALEY.
