The 50th (The Queen's Own) Regiment of Foot embarked for Ceylon in 1857. It was serving there in 1860: the regimental depot was at Chatham. Each year just a handful of outstanding soldiers of the regiment were chosen for good conduct medals and gratuities: these are listed here. There were two lists, one for men recommended for the Good Conduct Medal without a gratuity, and one for gratuities - £5 to a private, £10 to a corporal, and £15 to a serjeant. (1860-1870)
The 61st (The South Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot embarked for India in 1845. It returned from the Mauritius to England in 1860: the regimental depot was at Pembroke. In 1863 the regiment was moved to the Channel Islands; in 1864 to Ireland; in 1866 to Bermuda; and in 1870 to Canada. Each year just a handful of outstanding soldiers of the regiment were chosen for good conduct medals and gratuities: these are listed here. In 1866 the regiment was sent to Ireland; in 1867 to Gibraltar; in 1868 to Hong Kong; half the regiment in 1869 to Singapore; then in 1870 to the Cape of Good Hope and Natal. New Zealand War Medal roll for the 2nd battalion of the 14th (Buckinghamshire) Regiment of Foot: for service in the New Zealand campaign 1863 to 1867: the rolls were compiled following a general order in 1869 and the medals were distributed in 1870. The 2nd battalion, despite being part of the Buckinghamshire Regiment, was raised at Mullingar in Westmeath in 1857, and was sent to New Zealand in 1860, where it took part in the war of 1863 to 1865.
