Principal creditors petitioning to force a bankruptcy (but often close relatives of the bankrupt helping to protect his assets). Perry's Bankrupt and Insolvent Gazette was printed monthly for subscribers only, and included a section entitled Bankrupts, summarizing notices of bankruptcy proceedings. Volume 4, for 1829, covers bankruptcies gazetted from 2 December 1828 to 24 November 1829. The Gazette provided an index to the names of the principal bankrupts, but we have prepared this index to the names of the principal creditors, together with some stray names and solicitors from the records.

| Boys entering Uppingham School
(1830)
The public school at Uppingham in Rutland was founded by Archdeacon Johnson in 1584. A roll of scholars from 1824 to 1905 was edited by J. P. Graham, and published in 1906. This was a revision and updating of an 1894 edition of the roll, the great bulk of the work having been done by Mrs Mullins. The roll is arranged by year, and within each year by term of entrance, and then alphabetically by surname within each term. Each boy's name is given, surname first, with an asterisk where known (in 1906) to have died. Then there is month and year of birth, father's name (most often just surname and initials) and address (at entrance). Where the boy represented the school at Rugby football (XV) or cricket (XI), that is indicated. After the month and year of leaving the school, there is a brief summary of achievements in later life, and, where known, address as in 1906. LAWTON. Cost: £4.00. | Sample scan, click to enlarge

A poll was taken on 12 and 13 December 1832 for the election of two representatives in Parliament for the borough of Leicester, the candidates being William Evans esquire (E.), Wynn Ellis esquire (El.) and J. W. Boughton Leigh esquire (L.). This poll book, printed by J. G. Brown of Leicester, gives the name, residence and occupation of all the electors, divided into four categories: resident voters, non-resident voters, resident non-voters, and non-resident non-voters. For those who polled, their votes are marked on the right hand side. Under the 1832 Reform Act the franchise within the borough had been extended to all (adult male) owners or tenants of property worth £10 a year or more.LAWTON. A poll for the election of Members of Parliament for the Borough of Liverpool, between William Ewart esquire (E), Lord Viscount Sandon (S), Thomas Thornely esquire (T) and Major-General Sir Howard Douglas, baronet (D), took place on 12 and 13 December 1832. The poll book lists all voters with full name (surname first), occupation, address, and initials indicating for whom they voted. The lists are in six sections: Everton, Kirkdale, the parish of Liverpool, Toxteth Park, West Derby, and Liverpool burgesses and freemen.
