Members of the Camden Society

The Camden Society for the Publication of Early Historical and Literary Remains was one of the leading antiquarian societies of its age. 1200 members paid £1 per annum in advance and received gratis whatever volumes were published by the society during the year. Masters of Wrecked British Merchantmen
(1844-1845)
The Nautical Magazine Register of Wrecks of British Shipping for 1845 lists in tabular form the casualties in the merchant shipping fleet from the end of 1844 to the end of 1845. The tables give the vessel's name, port to which she belonged, master's name, what port she set out from, intended destination, where and when she came to grief, and whether the crew were saved or drowned. Bankrupts in England and Wales petitioning for discharge

Perry's Bankrupt and Insolvent Gazette, issued monthly, included lists of bankruptcies and stages in the liquidation of the estate, payment of dividends, and discharge. Towards the end of the process there was a Meeting for Allowance of Certificates, where the bankrupt applied for a certificate of discharge. This meeting sometimes took place many years after the bankruptcy procedure started: the details given are the year originally gazetted, name (surname first), address, and trade; and the date and time of the hearing.
