The Wesleyan-Methodist Magazine was issued monthly, and much of its contents related to obituaries of the faithful: memoirs and portraits of featured preachers; biographical sketches; recent deaths; and notices from the annual conference of ministers dying during the past year. Necessarily, the obituaries concentrate on the spiritual life of the deceased - early influences, conversion, obiter dicta, fortitude in the face of calamity, hopeful utterances in articulo mortis. The official register printed under the direction of the Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain pursuant to the act of 31 & 32 Victoriae, cap. 121 (An Act to Regulate the Sale of Poisons, and Alter and Amend the Pharmacy Act, 1852) comprised two sections:
1.The Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists, giving date of registration, number of examination certificate, full name (surname first, in capitals), and residence;

Pianists

The Calendar of the Trinity College of Music, London, for the year 1929 includes lists of licentiates and associates including these musicians. Surnames and initials are given; but women are distinguished by having their (first) christian name stated. The college provided instruction to nearly 1000 students a year, with examinations of 66,000 candidates a year at 700 local centres throughout the world. POLGLASE. London Telephone Subscribers

The London telephone directory lists subscribers alphabetically by surname and then by christian name or initials, with their postal address and telephone number. This is the L to Z directory issued in May 1939, but also contains some names from earlier in the alphabet, for instance in the separate section for midwives. The London telephone districts comprised not only the city centre, but also the very extensive suburbs in the Home Counties (Essex, Kent, Surrey and Middlesex).POLGLASE.
