| Masters of Ships at Barbados (1848) Each issue of the Barbados Mercury and Bridgetown Gazette included a Shipping List, listing arrivals and departures of ships. The arrivals list gives the date of arrival, type of ship, name of ship, master's surname, the port the voyage started, and the number of days at sea. The departure list gives the date of departure, type of ship, name of ship, master's surname, and destination. Most of the voyages are to and from other West Indian islands, England, Demerara (in British Guiana) and the northern colonies. September 1848

(1849) Perry's Bankrupt and Insolvent Gazette, issued monthly, included lists of assignees of bankrupts' estates. Each entry gives the name of the bankrupt (surname first, in capitals), and trade; followed by the names, addresses and trades of the assignees to whom the estate was delivered. (1849) Perry's Bankrupt and Insolvent Gazette, issued monthly, included lists of dissolutions of partnerships gazetted in England and Wales. The names of the partners are given in full, surnames in capitals, followed by trade and address, and date of the end of the partnership. Each entry usually ends with the phrase 'Debts by ...', indicating which partner intended to continue, and resume the responsibilities of, the business.
