New South Wales Intestates
(1844)
The probate courts of the Australian colonies furnished returns of estates of deceased intestates, giving full name, colonial residence, supposed British or foreign residence of family (often unknown, or left blank), amount of the estate and how much had been disbursed and how. The date of death is often stated, and if by accident, suicide or crime. Names were carried forward from return to return until the estate was expended or exhausted. WHITE. 'Names of the petty jury to try between our Sovereign Lady (Queen Victoria) and the Traversers, at a General Assizes and Gaol Delivery, held at Nenagh, in and for the North Riding of the County of Tipperary, on Wednesday the 20th day of March 1844'.  Outstanding British artillerymen
(1844)
Non-commissioned officers and men of the Royal Artillery discharged and recommended for medals and gratuities. The lists state rank, name, battalion or corps, and length of service (in years and months). The good conduct medals were at this period by no means issued automatically: only outstanding soldiers were recommended. The lists themselves are lists of recommendations, not necessarily of award of medal and/or gratuity, though in most cases the award would naturally follow. Where an award was not made, the reason is usually given. Where a man's name is crossed through it should not be assumed that he was deleted from the list: sometimes the name is crossed through when the medal has been dispatched. Prosecutions in County Durham: Prisoners

The accounts of the Treasurer of County Durham include among the disbursements the cost of prosecutions: giving when paid, attorney's name, prisoner's full name, term when prosecuted, and cost. The term of prosecution is identified by the abbreviations 1 S. for Epiphany Sessions; 2 S., Easter Sessions; 3 S., Midsummer Sessions; 4 S., Michaelmas Sessions; Ad. S., Adjourned Sessions; Sp. A., Spring Assizes; S. A., Summer Assizes; W. A., Winter Assizes. 1 January to 28 December 1844. The total cost of prosecutions for the year was £4,057 16s 7d.WHITE. Assignments of bankrupts' estates in England and Wales
(1845)
Perry's Bankrupt and Insolvent Gazette, issued monthly, included lists of assignments of bankrupts' estates. Each entry gives the name of the bankrupt (surname first, in capitals), the date (in brackets), address and trade; followed by the names and addresses of the trustees to whom the estate was delivered, and the name and address of the solicitor. Bankrupts in England and Wales

Perry's Bankrupt and Insolvent Gazette, issued monthly, included lists of bankruptcies and stages in the liquidation of the estate, payment of dividends, and discharge. The initial entry in this sequence gives the name of the bankrupt (surname first, in capitals), the date gazetted, address and trade (often with the phrase dlr. and ch., meaning dealer and chapman); the dates and times and courts of the official processes of surrender; the surname of the official commissioner (Com.); the surname of the official assignee; and the names and addresses of the solicitors; the date of the fiat; and whether on the bankrupt's own petition, or at the demand of petitioning creditors, whose names, trades and addresses are given. In subsequent entries the bankrupt is often merely referred to by name and trade. This is the index to the names of the bankrupts, from the issues from January to December 1845, which may or may not include the detailed first entry for any particular individual.WHITE.
