Masters of Ships at Barbados (1848) Each issue of the Barbados Mercury and Bridgetown Gazette included a Shipping List, listing arrivals and departures of ships. The arrivals list gives the date of arrival, type of ship, name of ship, master's surname, the port the voyage started, and the number of days at sea. The departure list gives the date of departure, type of ship, name of ship, master's surname, and destination. Most of the voyages are to and from other West Indian islands, England, Demerara (in British Guiana) and the northern colonies. September 1848
